How to use this treatment index

Treatments are grouped by specialty. Each card links to a full page with who it suits, the step-by-step process, typical stay length, what determines the cost and the hospitals we help patients access for it.

Horcare matches the condition to the department with the right specialty, not to the most famous hospital name. We publish no rankings. Read our medical disclaimer.

Oncology

Cancer treatment in China: advanced options

China is a growing destination for international cancer patients, mainly because of faster access to specialist teams and lower costs for cell therapy and advanced radiotherapy than in many Western private systems.

Large Grade 3A cancer centers run multidisciplinary tumor boards that review complex cases together. Browse the Grade 3A hospitals we help patients access, or start from oncology.

CAR-T therapy in China

Available only as NMPA-approved products or registered clinical trials, for specific blood cancers. Eligibility is decided by the hospital after its hematology team reviews your records.

Proton and heavy ion therapy

Delivered at a small number of dedicated particle therapy centers. The center's radiation oncologists decide whether a tumor type and stage are suitable.

The table shows how many of the hospitals we help patients access offer each treatment in each city. Beijing and Shanghai are the largest hubs. Highlighted counts link to a city specialty guide.

Counts reflect the hospitals in our directory, not a ranking. Clinical suitability is decided by the treating hospital.

What international patients should know before choosing a treatment

  • Access. Many top public hospitals run international departments or VIP wards with English-speaking staff and separate scheduling. Grade 3A is the highest tier in China's national hospital grading system.
  • Language. One dedicated bilingual coordinator works with you, supported by medical interpreters at consultations, admission and discharge.
  • Records. Recent imaging (ideally the original files), pathology reports and discharge summaries matter most. Translation is arranged as part of the review.
  • Visa. General guidance only: the right visa depends on your nationality and length of stay. Confirm with the Chinese embassy or visa center.

Costs and how payment works

Hospital fees are always kept separate from coordination fees. Horcare publishes no packages or price list, because each case differs.

  1. 1The initial case review is free.
  2. 2You pay hospital bills directly to the hospital, with no markup from Horcare.
  3. 3Horcare's service fee is quoted in writing before any paid work.

Frequently asked questions

Can foreigners get medical treatment in China?

Yes. China's large public hospitals, many of them Grade 3A, accept international patients as self-paying patients, often through an international department. The hospital reviews your medical records and decides whether you are eligible for a specific treatment. Horcare coordinates the process; it does not provide medical care.

How much does CAR-T therapy cost in China?

CAR-T costs depend on the product, the indication and the length of the monitoring stay, and only the hospital's own quote confirms them. Horcare publishes no price list: the cost is quoted after your free case review. The CAR-T treatment page explains which cost categories to expect.

Which hospital is best for cancer treatment in China?

There is no single best hospital. The right choice depends on the cancer type, its stage and the strength of a specific department. Horcare does not rank hospitals; we match the condition to departments with relevant experience, and the hospital then decides eligibility.

Which country is the most affordable for cancer treatment?

Costs depend far more on the individual case, the treatment plan and the length of stay than on the country alone. The cheapest option is not always the right one. A free case review tells you whether treatment in China is realistic for your situation before you spend anything.

Do I need a special visa for medical treatment in China?

The visa you need depends on your nationality, the purpose of the trip and how long you will stay. Hospitals can usually issue an appointment or invitation letter to support an application. Visa rules change often, so always confirm with the Chinese embassy or visa center.

How does payment work with Horcare?

Three principles apply: the initial case review is free; you pay hospital bills directly to the hospital, with no markup from Horcare; and Horcare's own service fee is quoted in writing before any paid work begins.
