Case review vs. a hospital second opinion
Horcare's free case review is a coordination assessment. A formal medical second opinion can only come from a hospital's specialists.
| Horcare case review | Hospital written opinion | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does it | Coordinator team | Hospital specialist |
| What you get | Hospital and department matching, next steps | Clinical view on diagnosis and treatment plan |
| Cost | Free | Charged by the hospital where applicable; you see its quote first |
| Clinical decision | Always the treating hospital | |
Which reports to prepare
You don't need everything to start. A diagnosis and your most recent reports are enough for an initial review.
- Latest specialist letter or discharge summary
- Pathology or biopsy reports
- Imaging reports plus the original CT, MRI or PET files (DICOM where possible)
- Recent lab results
- Current medications and allergies
- Treatments already received, with dates
- For children: age and weight
Any language is fine; we arrange translation. Clear phone photos of paper reports are acceptable to begin. Never post originals.
What conditions we can review
Cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, orthopedics and pediatrics, plus health check-ups for people already traveling to China (no reports needed: just your city and dates).
- Oncology
- Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery
- Neurology & Neurosurgery
- Orthopedics & Spine
- Pediatrics
- Health Check-Up
We do not arrange organ transplants, surrogacy or IVF. For CAR-T or cell therapies, we only help you access approved products or registered clinical trials; eligibility is decided by the hospital. Browse hospitals by city.

Free case review: frequently asked questions
Request a Free Case ReviewIs the case review really free?
Yes. The initial case review costs nothing and carries no obligation. If you go ahead, hospital fees are paid directly to the hospital with no markup, and any Horcare service fee is quoted in writing before paid work begins.
How do I get a second opinion from a hospital in China?
Horcare can coordinate translation and presentation of your records to a specialist at a Chinese hospital, who then issues a written opinion. Where the hospital charges for a formal opinion, you see the hospital's own quote first.
Can foreigners be treated at public hospitals in China?
Generally yes. Many leading public hospitals have international departments. The hospital decides eligibility after reviewing your records. Visa rules change, so confirm with the Chinese embassy or visa center.
What medical records do I need to send?
A diagnosis and your most recent reports are enough to start. Pathology, imaging reports and original image files, recent lab results and a medication list help most. Any language is fine.
How long until I hear back?
You receive a personal reply within 24 hours, and an initial assessment within 72 hours of us receiving your reports.
Do I have to travel to China after the review?
No. There is no obligation. Some hospitals can review records remotely, and eligibility is always decided by the hospital.
